Sarah Awad

Hi, my name is Sarah Awad, and I’m running for a position on the Appointments Committee. After being appointed to the Social Committee last semester, I’ve attended many SGA meetings and gotten a chance to understand a lot about Self Governance at Bryn Mawr. Being elected would allow me to further my involvement in SGA and give me an opportunity to learn more about all of the committees that work throughout our campus and behind the scenes. I am very excited about the interviewing process held by the Appointments Committee for positions. Having been appointed last semester, I experienced the interviewing process first hand and really enjoyed the experience. In high school, I was stage manager for the plays and had to spend hours on end watching people try to act during auditions and then help decide who was right for what part. That experience has helped me understand that during an interview, you have to be looking for not just a good person but the right person for a particular role and also be able to see the potential for someone to grow into a role. I enjoy working in group settings and I think that it is very important in this position to be able to discuss your opinions thoroughly and support what you believe but also be willing to compromise for the whole of the group. In high school, I was the president of the Service Club and worked with an executive board, which was a great learning experience for me on how to have compromise but also make sure your opinions are heard. I think this position would really give me a chance to further my involvement in SGA and be a great opportunity to learn more about how SGA works all throughout our campus. I love SGA and I would love your vote!

Elinor De La Torre

My name is Elinor De La Torre, and I’m a member of the class of 2017. I am running for Appointments committee, which is the committee that works on appointing people to positions (it’s pretty self explanatory). This would be my first experience with SGA, and I’m excited to put my energy and efforts into this endeavor! I feel prepared to work with my fellow committee members, as I am a very social person. I feel the skill set necessary for this task would be being able to judge character very well, being impartial, and being a good listener all of which I believe I possess. What I would look for in candidates I was interviewing would be passion for whichever job they are interviewing for, qualifications, diversity, and energy.  I want to appoint a group of diverse and capable applicants like I see every day in the student body at Bryn Mawr. I’d also like to make the interviews a warm and welcoming place so that we can together discover who is best suited for what position. I feel qualified for this position because I worked with appointing people to positions at high school and thus feel qualified for this position. Thank you for your consideration.

Kate Mulligan

Hi! I’m Kate Mulligan, class of 2017, and excited to become involved in SGA. I am running for a position on the Appointments Committee, and feel that I would be a valuable asset to this group, as I can easily find a person’s best traits and qualities and would be able to bring this information to the forefront of the discussion about the interviewee. Self-Governance was a large part of what initially drew me to Bryn Mawr, and I would love to be able to invest myself in this philosophy through the Appointments Committee. I am absolutely prepared to devote my time and effort into bringing my best ideas to the Committee. Thank you for your consideration.
