Rachel Clark

Hello, I’m Rachel Clark, and I am running to be your Treasurer of SGA.

I would like to do this position because after attending Plenaries and many Sunday SGA meetings this year, I found the financial aspect of SGA intriguing because it has a profound effect on what many groups and students can accomplish on campus. As treasurer, it would be my responsibility to help the community understand how SGA budgeting works and to collaborate with the SFC to give funding to different causes around our campus. I would strive to make this an efficient and considerate process.

I think I am qualified for this position because previously to Bryn Mawr, I was a part of a philanthropy club that decided how to raise and give out money. Each year, the club had to distribute about $4,000-6,000 to different non-profits. This process required me to be thoughtful and organized to help suggest where the club spends money and how much for each cause; this experience is a smaller scale version of what we do here at Bryn Mawr. While at Bryn Mawr, I have worked with my customs partner to make our budget last and spend it efficiently. In general, I am comfortable working with numbers and budgeting to help other people. Beyond these experiences, I think my role as a customsperson has displayed my abilities to communicate and collaborate with different groups of people around the dorm and around campus. I think it is important to uphold communication throughout the year to ensure clarity between SGA and those that receive funding. This upcoming year, I also think it would be important to review the budgeting bylaws to ensure that they are efficient and fair. At the end of the day, I would like to make reasonable decisions that will benefit the most people and improve our community.
