Position: Co-Presidents for the Class of 2016

Hi! We are Justine Kim and Shayoni Nag, and we are running for Co-Presidents of the Class of 2016. We are Biology majors and are both pursuing the pre-health track.

We would love the opportunity to be presidents because we truly value self-governance and its impact on the Bryn Mawr community. We know that self-governance is something very unique about Bryn Mawr since we have seen the positive impact it has had our fellow peers, which is why we are so keen on becoming a part of it.

We are completely sure that we are well suited to hold this position because of our past experiences as leaders in other capacities around campus. We are excited at the prospect of representing our class and communicating with its members in order to form lasting relationships among members of both other classes and faculty. We would love to transform the ideas of fellow peers into realities. In addition, we are both highly organized and adamant about the importance of communication amongst peers. We believe that these prominent skills will benefit us while serving as Presidents for the Class of 2016.

We are both thrilled and excited at the idea of bringing a fresh perspective to SGA as active members. The idea of friends working together in high-pressure situations seems daunting, but we have taken classes and worked on group projects together, which has allowed us to learn a lot about each other’s personalities, strengths, and weaknesses.

We know that we are able to communicate effectively with each other, as well as balance the pressures and requirements of co-class presidents. In addition, we acknowledge that this is a demanding position, and with it comes great responsibility; we trust that as a team, we will be able to fulfill them to the best of our capabilities. Put your faith in us and vote for Justine and Shayoni for Co-Presidents of the Class of 2016.

Grace Kim and Chanel Williams

Hello Class of 2016,

Our names are Grace Kim and Chanel Williams and we will be running for the position of co-president for our class. We would like to be elected to this position because we believe strongly in the spirit of self-governance and the Honor Code and would like to participate in shaping the Bryn Mawr community. We are passionate about helping our classmates have the best junior year possible and thus believe that we are well qualified for this position.

To begin with, both of us will be staying on campus for the entire year and do not have plans to go abroad. We are both involved in leadership roles on campus and know what it takes to be an effective leader. We are both Customs People in Denbigh and we are both members of Bryn Mawr’s track and field team and therefore know how to work together to achieve our goals. Chanel Williams has also worked on the Executive Board of Pulso Latino as the dance group’s Showcase Coordinator. Chanel is also a supervisor at Uncommon Grounds and knows how to create an efficient working environment. Grace Kim is the match secretary for the Bryn Mawr, Haverford Rugby Team which has given her skills in active communication and planning in advance. Additionally, Grace has been a member of SGA’s 2013 Appointments Committee and is therefore familiar with SGA related responsibilities. We believe that these current and previous leadership roles with help us in being the co-presidents that the class of 2016 deserves.

If elected co-presidents for the Class of 2016, we will endeavor to maintain a connection between those juniors remaining at Bryn Mawr and those who are studying abroad. We have several ideas for establishing this cohesiveness within the junior class, such as sending care packages to those Mawrters studying abroad, as well using social media as a means of communication. We will also be committed to listening to and effectively addressing the concerns of the members of the Class of 2016. If elected co-presidents we will also plan fun events to foster a bond between the Class of 2016 and the Class of 2018.

We are both approachable individuals, and would love to hear any suggestions or ideas that you may have for making our junior year amazing.

Love,

Grace and Chanel
